About Us

ASME helps the global engineering community develop solutions to real world challenges. Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a not-for-profit professional organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing and skill development across all engineering disciplines, while promoting the vital role of the engineering in society.

What We Are

ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) at Columbia is an organization dedicated to assisting students with networking and professional development, as well as student life and class connectedness in Mechanical Engineering. We work closely with the faculty and staff at Columbia and ASME Headquarters in New York City to facilitate events and opportunities for mechanical engineers to explore mechanical engineering in the professional sense. Some of our activities include our major declaration social, inter-collegiate networking, t-shirt competition, and earthquake-proof gingerbread house-making contest.

Who We Are

We are a group of individuals who are passionate about connecting a wide audience within mechanical engineering. We believe that providing students with varying backgrounds in mechanical engineering a space to interact allows them to best engage within the field. Through these interactions, we seek to foster a community that actively supports mechanical engineers in actualizing their goals.

The Columbia University ASME Board encourages you to become a member of ASME national by visiting the National Membership Page. ASME National provides mechanical engineers with a host of services and prolific opportunities to develop via networking, panels, and career advice.
